Welcome to 2011! I am sure all of you celebrated the New Year with much fanfare and merriment! Some of us gathered at Rich's work to view the fireworks that display magnificently from that venue - see photo.
The next day a number of PKM'ers actively participated in the unique tradition that is the Mummers Parade. After the show, we were lucky enough to catch us with some of the participants - see photo. Congrats to both Polish American and Fralinger, for placing in the top spots this year, again!
Although the Mummers Parade took place last week, its not too late to vote for the Viewers Choice Award for one of the string bands. I know I do not need to remind you that last year Polish American String Band won that honor:) Below is the link that lets you submit your vote:

This Friday we will begin holding our weekly dance practices. We have many plans to enhance our program and want to get started with the work. Dance practice will begin at 8:30.
Also this Friday the PKM Glee Club will also start holding sessions. Those interested in joining, please arrive at 7:30.
As every year, many of us plan to attend the Polish Police Ball on February 12. It was requested that we spend some time working on our Polka technique and review some of the figure dances in preparation. I have alloted an hour for just that on the two Fridays preceeding the Ball. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity:)
Although we are just starting our Winter season, we have already been asked to do a performance. It is on January 29, Saturday, at 8PM. The event is the Polish University Club of NJ Scholarship Ball. It should be fun as the hosts have indicated we will be treated to a mean and cocktails! Please mark your calendars appropriately.

This Saturday we are scheduled to hold PKM on ICE - go ice skating at the U of Penn Class of 1923. I will get information about that location and share that at practice.
